Mr. Mvuleni Geoffrey Qhena, BCompt (Hons), CA (SA), serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of The Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Limited. Mr. Qhena served as Chief Financial Officer of The Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Limited since September 16, 2003 until February 2005, and served as its Executive Vice-President of Professional Services and Managing Director since February 2005.
He initially joined the firm as a Business Analyst in 1994 and later in 1999, he re-joined the firm as the Head of Subsidiaries, Associates, and Minority Interests and later became the Head of Risk Management. His appointment was ratified by the South African Cabinet of ministers. Mr. Qhena was prior to this, employed at the Transnet Group in 1995, initially as Project Finance Manager at Spoornet and later as Senior Manager of Restructuring at Transnet. He has a strong sense of charting the organization to financial performance whilst at the same time embracing the value of good corporate citizenship. Mr. Qhena started his career as an Administration Clerk at the Soweto Council in 1984 and was later employed at KPMG as an articled Clerk in 1986.
In 1992, he was appointed a Lecturer at Vista University, in the Soweto Campus, teaching Accounting and Auditing. Mr. Qhena serves as the Chairman of Foskor (Pty) Limited. Mr. Qhena serves as Executive Director of The Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Limited. since May 01, 2005. He serves as a Director at Acerinox S.A. He became one of the few black Chartered Accounts in South Africa when he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993. Mr. Qhena holds a Bachelor of Accounting Sciences (B Compt) degree from University of South Africa, which he obtained in 1989; a B Compt (Honours) degree in 1990; an SEP from Wits and Harvard; and a Advanced Tax Certificate (Unisa).
